INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

  1. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Human trafficking is one of the major challenges faced in the Nigeria society today. Human trafficking these days is no longer gender dependent. Most of the trafficked are used for ritual purposes, some for prostitution and other for activities like hawking etc. Several efforts have been put in place by the Nigeria government and other foreign bodies to ensure the control of human trafficking.  It is to this regard that the study is based on human trafficking has no significant effect on teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A

1.3 RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The following research questions guide the objectives of the study

  1. What is the state of human trafficking today?
  2. What has been Nigeria’s experience of human trafficking?
  3. To what extent has human trafficking affected the teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A?
  4. What is the role of the federal government of Nigeria in curbing the menace of human trafficking?

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The study seeks to evaluation of human trafficking and its implications on future prospect of our teeming youths. The objectives of the study are:

  1. To look at the state of human trafficking today
  2. To examine the Nigeria’s experience of human trafficking
  3. To find out the extent human trafficking has affected the teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A
  4. To determine the role of the federal government of Nigeria in curbing the menace of human trafficking

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study on evaluation of human trafficking and its implications on future prospect of our teeming youths. The study findings of the study will show the causes of human trafficking, the reason for trafficking, the method and techniques used by traffickers and how to control them. The study will also serve as a source of information to NAPTIP, UNODC and other researchers and contribute to the body of the existing literature on evaluation of human trafficking and its implications on future prospect of our teeming youths).

1.6 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS/PROPOSITION

H0: human trafficking has no significant effect on teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A

H1: human trafficking has significant effect on teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A

1.7 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study covers on human trafficking has no significant effect on teeming youths in Ado-odo Ota L.G.A

1.8 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Financial constraint- Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint- The researcher will simultaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This consequently will cut down on the time devoted for the research work.

1.9 DEFINITION OF TERMS

HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation. Human trafficking can occur within a country or trans-nationally. It is distinct from people smuggling, which is characterized by the consent of the person being smuggled
